2017 was jam-packed with new oarsman, tight racing, and championships. We have just sent out our yearly newsletter, so if your physical address has changed or you want a copy please contact us and we’ll get one out to you. You can also download a digital copy for free from our website, here.
Here is a video of the boys training the week before final exams, putting their brand new boat, Budge II, to good use (you can see some of the seat dedications along the side… thank you, loyal alumni!).
The student-athletes are now on break competing in a winter meters competition designed by coach Brooks. The team looks to enhance their aerobic fitness over the next 3 weeks before returning to campus to begin the Winter Quarter of academics.
Budge II – The Friends of UCI Rowing was able to purchase a new Filippi 8+ racing shell off lease from the World Championships due to the hard and diligent work of our Board of Directors, and generous donations from Don Burns, Rick Farrell, Boris Buzan, Rollin Buchanan, Patrick Skelly, Peter Jung, Michael Glassey, Tom Tischer, Rob Walker, Steve Berry, Forbes Morse, Nick Berkuta, Christer Fiege-Kollman, George Basile, Greg Rose, Chris Romberg, Powell Thurston, Mike Burke, Patrick Dibb, Katy Basile, Michael Fero, Bruce Ibbetson, Duvall Hecht, David Heimerl, Curt Flemming, Brian Frank & finally Budge Collins. These donations will allow strong, dedicated oarsman to have the best equipment for years to come.
End of Year Financials
In the spirit of giving and the holidays, we humbly remind you that the crews’ existence, coaches salaries, equipment purchases & maintenance, and competitive races are made possible by you, our alumni, friends, and supporters. Every dollar you give helps to ensure future generations of oarsmen can call themselves Anteaters. The Friends of UCI Rowing is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are tax-deductible. Thank you for thinking of us and we will see you all in the New Year with more exciting updates as the team takes on the Spring sprint season!
