- 6th Annual -

The California Challenge Cup is BACK! After almost two years unable to race because of the pandemic, it feels great to be back in action with the premiere racing event in Newport Beach!

This year will be better than ever... there have been updates to the race coverage, with our live stream featuring overhead drone and chase launch and finish line views of every race in this Henley-style regatta. Women's crews will also be participating for the first time!

Bob Ernst and Jim Jorgenson will be calling the action throughout the day. We will also be honoring Duvall Hecht at certain breaks between races, so be sure not to miss it whether you are there in person, or watching from home. The crews at UCLA are well matched against UCI this season, so we are expecting the duals featuring these teams to be nail-biters, and a nice way to remember Coach Hecht.

Bring your beach chairs and towels... alumni, friends, and family can watch the races in person at the Marina Park beach, visit the Regatta Page on our website for more details about parking, spectating, the course map, and other key details.

NOTE: There will be no on-water viewing provided this year. The finish line has been moved to the Lighthouse to allow for better viewing from Marina Park beach, so there's not enough room for boats to anchor in this area. The beach viewing will be GREAT though!

Tune into the Live Stream on YouTube

Races start at 7:30am, but check out the Start List to watch specific duals!
