2020 Season Recap

TURN IT TO ELEVEN The class of 2020's slogan of "Turn it to Eleven" and "One Louder" quickly became a point of inspiration that could be heard from breaking down meetings to the roars in the boat. The idea behind these two mantras is to go beyond the perceived physical and mental limits that can confine in every rower. With the rowing season coming to an abrupt end due to COVID-19, we have not deviated from our championship mindset. We continue to train remotely for the next season and dominate the [...]

COVID-19 Update

Coach Brooks' Update… Speaking of Senior For those who are unaware, all Spring Sports at UCI have been suspended due the COVID-19 pandemic. This movement was directed by our campus leadership for the well being and safety of all our student athletes. Additionally, as time passed, all collegiate spring sports, including the entire collegiate rowing season nationwide, was cancelled. I've typed and deleted this message around 100 times because I'm still in disbelief. I know that we all are, even as we all figure out how to adjust to this new normal. Year End Giving

Friends of UCI Rowing is currently working with a CPA and the IRS to resolve a clerical error that occurred on our tax filings in 2015 and has carried over inadvertently the subsequent tax years. The IRS did not notify Friends of UCI Rowing of the issue, and we were only made aware of it when our federal tax exempt status went into "auto-revocation" because it hadn't been corrected for three years. Below is a letter from our CPA office explaining the issue in detail and the steps we have taken to resolve it with the IRS. If you [...]

Announcing Team 100!

A big idea recently came from an alumnus: UCI Crew alumni with the means should consider making an ongoing annual commitment to fund the team at the same level that current UCI rowers pay for their club dues. Today, that’s $1,500 / year. It takes $150,000 per year to keep the boathouse doors open. That means we only need 100 of these VIP donors to join the team. The recurring support from Team 100 will go directly to funding our coaching staff and help sustain the growth of UCI Crew. [...]
