Announcing Team 100!

A big idea recently came from an alumnus: UCI Crew alumni with the means should consider making an ongoing annual commitment to fund the team at the same level that current UCI rowers pay for their club dues. Today, that’s $1,500 / year. It takes $150,000 per year to keep the boathouse doors open. That means we only need 100 of these VIP donors to join the team. The recurring support from Team 100 will go directly to funding our coaching staff and help sustain the growth of UCI Crew. [...]

Fall Newsletter & Year End Fundraising

Big things are happening ... In case you didn't receive the printed newsletter in the mail this month, here is a digital version, with detailed information about the season so far. We try to limit fundraising outreach to this year-end push and for special causes (new boats, trips to Nationals or the Henley, etc.). The newsletter below includes more information about how the program is funded, but alumni donations are what keeps Coach Brooks [...]

Parent Connections: Rowing Together at UCI

Written by George Basile ’83, parent of Connor and member of UCI’s Parent Executive Board and Director at Large for Friends of UCI Rowing. There are so many unique and interesting ways we as Anteater parents can engage with our children as they continue on their journey at UCI. Take my story. Let’s start back in 1979 when I was a new student at UCI. I was a tall, gangly freshman; not too much to look at, but a group of students saw something in me. Next thing I knew, I was recruited to the UCI rowing team. And [...]

Greetings to the Friends of UCI Rowing, I am honored to introduce myself as your new Chief of Stewards for the Friends of UCI Rowing. Together, along with all of us here at the Friends of UCI Rowing, we are excited to bring you important news about the achievements of our current athletes and a fantastic opportunity they’ve earned to represent UCI internationally. This forced the boys into the 4+ event with only a few days of practice. They were up for [...]
