Brian rowed for UCI from 1996 to 2000. He is a digital news producer for KPCC, the Los Angeles NPR affiliate.
George Basile

George rowed on the UCI crew from 1979 to 1983. He is currently a Professor and Senior Sustainability Scientist at the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University.
Jim Currie

Jim was a cox for UCI from ’71-’75. He coached the novice from ’78-’83. Jim spent 30+ years in the pharma industry and is now retired, giving him time to ref soccer and lacrosse, and help out at the UCI boathouse as needed!
AJ Brooks

AJ Brooks rowed at NAC and the University of Washington and was head coach and Director of Rowing for UCI from 2014-2022. He now serves as Executive Director for Dallas United Crew.
Meagan Wong

Meagan was a Varsity coxswain at UC Irvine from 2014 to 2018. She also coxed for several masters programs around the state and was an Assistant Coach at UC Irvine from 2018-2020. She now resides locally in Costa Mesa, CA.

Karl is the Associate Vice Chancellor, Environmental and Facilities Services in the Facilities Management department at UCI. While never an oarsman, Karl brings a valuable connection to the university and the local Newport community to the board of directors.
Mike Thompson

A 4-year oarsman from 1968–71, graduating with a BS in biology. Mike has worked in commercial and recreational fisheries all his life and for the last 15 years have been involved in fisheries management at the state and federal level. Currently a member of the Highly Migratory Species Advisory Panel for the Pacific Fisheries Management Council and US Dept of State Commissioner for the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission.
Vincent Mestre

Vince rowed for 2 years at UCI from 1969 through the season of 1971. He is a licensed Mechanical Engineer and holds an emeritus vice president position at Landrum & Brown and does research in human response to aviation noise.
Michael Maxwell

Mike rowed for Irvine for four years until 2003. He is currently serving as Principal Water Resources Engineer at Arcadis in their downtown LA offices.

Tom Kirksey

Tom was a 4-year oarsman from ’84-’88 and Co-Captain in ’87-’88. He earned his BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) at UCI. Tom has been in the construction equipment rental business since 1989 and founded MAKO Equipment in 2000. MAKO Equipment rents construction equipment in California, Arizona, and Nevada.

Todd has a long been a presence around the UCI boathouse, being a four-year oarsman and also having coached the team in the past. He is living and working in Santa Barbara, CA and employed by Johnson & Johnson, serving as Director, Global Strategic Marketing at Mentor Worldwide, LLC.

Mike was a four-year oarsman at UCI and currently lives in San Pedro, CA working at the Allstate Insurance Company.
Didi Yeh

Didi coxed for UCI and graduated in ’81 with a French and Comp Lit degree. Currently founder and Managing Director of True Focus, Inc, a company providing administrative and operational advice to small businesses and start-ups. She previously completed a career at global fashion house Gucci as Managing Director of Europe for Gucci’s Timepiece division.
